We are nearing the end of the application period for the Sustainability Leadership Programme. If you haven't done so already, participating in the SLP is a surefire way to enhance your leadership capabilities, and create a strategy to achieve your sustainability goals. Applications close next Wednesday,

Counting carbon with Naylor Love

Naylor Love has released a Building Carbon Calculator that estimates carbon emissions associated with structural building elements. Users can compare building materials by their emissions to choose the most sustainable option. 

Orion Energy Accelerator calls for big ideas

Orion and The Ministry of Awesome have teamed up to launch the Orion Energy Accelerator, a national competition calling for new ideas to reduce NZ's carbon emissions. The Accelerator offers two Start-Up Grants worth a combined $25,000 for people and start-up companies with energy innovations, and they'll be guided through a programme to validate and commercialise their ideas. Applications close 30 April.

EECA survey on petrol and diesel

EECA is conducting research on off-road use of petrol and diesel in New Zealand, looking to understand how off-road users of petrol and diesel access fuel supplies, how this fuel is used off-road, and in what equipment/technologies. They encourage companies to fill out a survey about their use of petrol and diesel. You can fill out the survey here, with a chance to win one of 10 $50 Prezzy cards.

Better Futures at the supermarket

New Zealand companies are taking action on climate change - but does this translate into recognition for individual brands? Catherine Jeffcoat for Certified Energy looks at what the Colmar Brunton Better Futures report means for helping consumers make the right decisions in the grocery aisles. Have a read here.

BCSDA Trans-Tasman event

The Business Council for Sustainable Development Australia (BCSDA) and SBC are launching a new online Trans-Tasman dialogue and engagement on business and sustainability. The first session will include an update from BCSDA CEO Andrew Petersen, Chair Dr John Hewson, and SBC CEO Mike Burrell and Chair Karen Silk, discussing current activities and opportunities for Trans-Tasman cross-fertilisation, promotion and engagement. Insights on NZ Sustainability Professionals

SBC has partnered with Oxygen Consulting, the Sustainable Business Network, and AUT University to launch the results of research undertaken earlier this year into the role of the sustainability professional in New Zealand. The research findings reveal trends in job satisfaction, stress levels, remuneration, sustainability resourcing and more.
