Latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report released

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report on the physical science basis of climate change was released this week. As expected, it provided further evidence of the severity of the climate crisis and it will form the basis for discussion for global action at COP26 in Glasgow in November. Mike Burrell was interviewed by Radio NZ and noted that “the gravity of the 6th IPCC report inspires us to redouble our efforts to bend the curve of NZ’s emissions.” 

Diverting construction waste from landfill

Construction company Naylor Love been working with Unitec’s Environmental Research Centre to audit the plastic waste generated on a construction site from start to finish. After reusing and recycling what they can, they’re working with suppliers and manufacturers to eliminate plastic waste.  

Auckland’s first Green Star Supermarket 

Countdown is opening a new Green Supermarket in Auckland. As a Green Star development, the supermarket has been designed, built and will operate in an environmentally-conscious way, as well as generating 100+ jobs for the local community.

PWC’s new report shows a lack of data availability and quality is holding New Zealand businesses back in climate risk reporting. As we move towards the likely introduction of mandatory climate risk reporting in New Zealand, it highlights what businesses need to do to ensure they are well prepared for this.
