ERP timeframe extended   

The Government’s draft Emissions Reduction Plan will now be released for consultation in October, and the final plan published in May 2022. We are sorry to see the delay but acknowledge the reasons for it. We hope the additional time will strengthen the plan's ability to deliver on the Climate Change Commission's recommendations and the promise of a zero carbon Aotearoa.

Chch Airport joins Race to Zero 

Christchurch International Airport has signed up to the United Nations Race to Zero, the global platform for ambitious climate action. Its climate projects include decommissioning its diesel boilers, converting its commercial vehicle fleet, introducing gate ground power for aircraft, and commissioning NZ’s first dedicated electric plane charger.  

DLA provide legal services to COP26 

DLA Piper will provide general commercial support to COP26, including for sponsorship agreements. DLA Piper is committed to climate action, setting a Science Based Target and joining the Race to Zero Campaign. 

Te Wiki o te Reo Māori    

Fujitsu marked Māori Language Week by launching its Māori and Pacific Peoples inclusion plan, and Victoria University of Wellington academics share what te ao Māori can teach us about sustainable business.  

AirNZ electric plane by 2030 

Air New Zealand is planning to have an electric aircraft by 2030, and will eventually replace turboprop fleets with aircraft powered by alternative energy.

New date for climate conference 

In response to the changing Covid-19 landscape, SBC, CLC and the Environmental Defence Society have postponed this year’s Climate Change & Business Conference. We will now be holding it on 3 & 4 March 2022 at Auckland’s Aotea Centre.

Covid-19 support for community 

Suncorp New Zealand has donated $150,000 across five community support groups which are collectively providing support, relieving the increased hardship caused by the Covid-19 lockdown.   

Climate still in top five for directors 

The Institute of Directors has released the five top issues facing directors in 2021: Revival; rethink and redesign; Climate urgency; Adaptive boards; Prioritising people and Cyber resilience. 

Have your say on immigration    

The Productivity Commission is calling for submissions on its inquiry into New Zealand's immigration settings by 24 December. Findings will facilitate New Zealand’s long-term economic growth and promote the wellbeing of New Zealanders.
